Intermediate & Jr. Varsity Champions

This afternoon our youngest Saints captured the Division II Intermediate Volleyball Championship.  Since the Intermediate team witnessed the J.V. game yesterday I guess they decided to follow.  We got off to a slow start trailing Maryknoll 2-6.  Eighth graders Alyssa Panis started the comeback with a **** and then we started passing better and tied the score at 6-6.  Freshman Hunter Roberts came in and served very well the two times she substituted in the back line.  Freshman Danielle Whitten, Panis and Freshman Taylor Bellevou dominated play at the net.  We had leads of 16-11,  18-13 and then we started to pull away.  The outstanding setting of eighth grader Lacey Satele and all around defensive play of eighth grader Shandlynn Willing paced the Saints as we won the first set 25-15.  In the second set we traded points early and then we jumped to an 18-12 lead and then we lead 20-13.  Then Maryknoll had an excellent server and they picked up on all our poor passes.  They climbed the ladder and tied the score at 20.  We got a key **** from Freshman Stephanie Balais.  With the score at 24-22  Alyssa Panis went back to serve and she served an ace.  Our bench charged the floor as they cheered and hugged each other—not only are we Champions but we were also undefeated at 14-0.

What a great year!  Congrats to Coach Donovan and all the volleyball coaches.  Great Weekend—2 games and two Championships.  Sister Joan, Sol & Doreen were cheering loudly at the game.

We had a large crowd supporting our younger Saints.
